Cedar Lane PTA Programs
We offer a range of programs throughout the school year designed to engage and inspire every Cedar Lane student. Whether your little lion loves sports, art, science, or something in between, there’s something for everyone. These experiences are made possible with the help of our dedicated volunteers and we’re always grateful for an extra hand!

Reflections Program
The Reflections program is an annual arts initiative that encourages participation across six creative categories: visual arts, literature, music composition, film production, dance choreography, and photography. Students produce original artwork that reflects their personal interpretation of this year’s theme: “I Belong.”
The Reflections Program is open to all grades. Learn more here.
Please let us know if your student plans to participate.
We are currently seeking a volunteer to coordinate this program.
Math Olympiad
Math Olympiad is one of the most influential and fun-filled math competition programs in the United States and throughout the world. More than 120,000 students from every state and 39 additional countries participate each year. The objectives of Math Olympiad are to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity.
Math Olympiad is open to 4th and 5th graders. Learn more here.
Ashley Powell, Cedar Lane's Fusion Teacher, will be our Math Olympiad Coach this year! We anticipate having weekly practices on Mondays for one hour after school starting in October/November and continuing through March.
Please let us know if your student is interested in participating.
Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad comes in many shapes and sizes to fit your needs. At the K-6 level, try an Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) program, which can come in the form of a competitive tournament, a hands-on science Fun Day or an expert-filled Science Olympiad Fun Night. In grades 6-12, Science Olympiad functions much like a football or soccer team, requiring preparation, commitment, coaching and practice throughout the year. Each school-based team is allowed to bring 15 students who cross-train for a variety of events in their skill set, but some school clubs have more than 75 members, allowing for an apprentice and mentoring system.
Science Olympiad is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Learn more here.
Please let us know if your student is interested in participating.
We are currently seeking a volunteer to coach the Science Olympiad team.
Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. Imagine being faced with a problem that requires an original solution. It can be frightening. Now imagine not being afraid to solve that problem – that is what OM members learn. This skill and self-confidence will carry over to all areas of their lives. OM brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve our unique open-ended problems. OM also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more. This international program is designed to help students at all learning levels grow as individual learners, grow as team members, and to reach their full potential.
Odyssey of the Mind is open to all grades. Learn more here.
Please let us know if your student is interested in participating.
